Dana and I met while at Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) and were married in 1985. We lived in my hometown of Memphis until 2009. We have raised three children, Andrew, Jonathan and Elizabeth. We have a daughter in-law, Carlin, a son in-law, Austin, and two beautiful grandchildren.
Raised in a Christian home by great parents, my journey in ministry started early, serving in the local church as a volunteer while being self employed in the business world. Because of a background in business and construction, God has allowed me to lead numerous teams to South America to build many church buildings in Brazil, Nicaragua and Uruguay. Since 1993, Dana and I have had many opportunities to volunteer in South America as we love to serve people and help them know and love God. I have also had the blessing to serve in many areas of church life, including serving as a teacher to second graders, with the teenagers and to adults. Dana and I have been very involved with mission’s ministries serving locally in Memphis, around the US and international experience as well. I attended Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis. My family moved to Dutchess County in 2009 as missionaries to start Living Water Church. I love being the Senior Pastor here at Living Water Church, as we reach our community with the Gospel and share the love of Jesus in practical ways.
My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I enjoy watching football, cooking Memphis-style BBQ, and I try to go fishing whenever i get the opportunity. Dana likes music, and hanging out with our children and grandchildren.
My wife, Grace, and I met my sophomore year in high school. It was love at first sight, at least for me. I pursued my homecoming queen for the next four years and we married in 1982. We lived in the small town of Bentonville, AR and raised two children, Derek, and Ashlee. Derek is married to Shirynn, and they have given us four beautiful grandchildren.
Raised in a Christian home, I felt the call to preach at age nine. The call did not come to fruition until 1994. While working in the business world as an electrical and electronic technician, I began serving as a leader in men’s group, teaching children in Sunday school, and working with AWANA’S and personal evangelism. In 1996, I attended Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. While in seminary, I served as an intern with Bellevue Baptist Church overseeing mission construction projects, assisting with prison ministries and other mission endeavors.
I served as Senior Pastor of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Talladega, AL for four years and as a pastor at Memphis Union Mission for twelve-and-a-half years. Grace and I moved to Dutchess County in 2017 after the LORD confirmed to us that He was calling us to serve at Living Water Church. I have a passion to see people come to a saving knowledge of Christ and be discipled in the ways of our LORD Jesus Christ.
Grace and I love spending time with our children and grandchildren. We enjoy walking, hiking, exercising, and traveling together. We also enjoy watching most all sports, fishing and playing a little golf when we can squeeze it in. Grace and I enjoy having people in our home, relaxing together and sharing a good ole home cooked meal.
COBY and EMMA SCHAEFER
My wife Emma and I met in high-school. We recently got married in January 2019. Now we are enjoying this new season of life together becoming one. We don’t have any human children yet, but are in love with our tiny black cat named Umbra. Together we serve in different ministries including youth group, children’s church, and media team.
Both my wife and myself have been involved in serving in church since we were teenagers. We participated in youth group and then individually served in different roles. I served at our last church on the media team while Emma served in children’s church. We are excited to be serving together as leaders of the youth.
In our free time we enjoy spending time together with our cat, watching movies, and camping.
I have been a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie for the majority of my life. I am the youngest of 6 children and I was blessed to have been raised in a Christian home where I went to church every Sunday. In school, I participated in chorus and band, where I played the trumpet and french horn. In 2006, I landed an intern position for Dutchess County Department of Parks and have been employed there ever since.
Right after high school, I became a youth leader, taught youth sunday school, and began leading worship at Vassar Road Baptist Church, where I attended for over 15 years. At Dutchess community college, I was involved in the leadership for the Christian fellowship club, where I helped lead music and was the secretary. In April of 2012, I was led to Living Water Church, where I quickly became involved in the music ministry and later that year, began leading a young women's bible study with a very good friend.
Hiking, going to beach, filling silences with puns (the best kind of humor), and hanging with friends
I met my wife, Janice, through church when we were both fifteen years old, and we got married five years later in 2007. Our son, Judah, came to live with us when he was thirteen days old, and we finalized his adoption two years later. His unlimited energy amazes us. His passions include elephants, and singing.
Together, our family is blessed to serve in many ministries, including our church’s worship team, and Kairos Prison Ministry.
Growing up in a Christian home, I watched my Dad serve to bring Jesus’ love to inmates in the prison. As an adult, I also have had many opportunities to serve with a team of other Christian men, to share the gospel with Kairos Prison Ministries in Coxsackie and Greene Correctional Facilities. I am currently the Chair of the Advisory Council for the Hudson Valley Kairos. I have been working and developing the media and sound system at Living Water Church since it opened in it’s current location, and have served on the worship team for the last five years.
I am obsessed with all things coffee. I also enjoy watching football with my family and am a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. I enjoy playing airsoft on a team with my brothers and some old friends. As a family we enjoy camping, hiking, canoeing, fishing, and playing paddleball.
EXECUTIVE TEAM LEADER
My wife Gini and I began dating in high school. We both went to Penn State University, and while there we were both student leaders in Penn State Cru. Cru played a pivotal role in our spiritual formation, and it gave us a bigger vision for our lives and the world. We got married shortly after graduating in 2000. We’ve been residents of the Hudson Valley ever since. We have three children: Megan, Toben, and Beza.
After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, I went to work in the high tech industry, where I still work today. In addition to my day job, I am a volunteer campus ministry leader with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at Vassar College. I have served in various ministry roles over the years with Intervarsity and within the local church, including disciplemaking, small group leadership, teaching, and general ministry oversight. I am passionate about seeing the kingdom of God advanced within the local church, on college campuses, and around the world.
I enjoy all things outdoors, including hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, and exploring the National Parks. On Saturdays our family can be found on the local soccer field, watching Penn State football, or just hanging out together and “slowing down.”
